BoardSites is the website and productivity suite for the ~104 Massachusetts public retirement boards — the local-government bodies that administer pensions under M.G.L. Chapter 32. We exist because the alternatives are built for general municipal use, leave a lot of compliance posting work undone, and routinely take six months to deliver a functional site after contract signing.
Why this exists
The Drupal 7 platform many boards run on hit end-of-life in January 2025. PERAC and auditors are flagging unsupported platforms. The DOJ’s ADA Title II rule requires WCAG 2.1 AA conformance by April 24, 2026 (or 2027 for jurisdictions under 50,000). Most boards need to migrate, and the legacy vendors aren’t set up to deliver retirement-board-specific content.
What we’re not
- We are not a benefit estimator or member portal. PTG and Bay State Pension Solutions own that with real member data; we link to their portals, we don’t replicate them.
- We are not an ADA accessibility widget. Visitor-facing widgets do not satisfy DOJ Title II; the underlying site has to be compliant. We build to WCAG 2.1 AA as a floor.
- We are not generic. Three customizable themes max, no per-customer custom design as a Standard or Professional offering. The starter kit is pre-loaded with retirement-board content.
